Weekend Tilawati Class

Assalaamu'alaikum. After a month, we got invited to attend the in-person Tilawati class which took place on Sunday at Masjid Al Hafidh at 08.30-10.00 via WA group chat. I was not excited but not upset at the same time. I know its importance to help me get my recitation improved, therefore I did not completely neglect it. In the last (first) meeting, there were quite a lot of teachers participating. Then I was positive to attend it.

On the D-day, I even had an idea to bring my daughter as well. Therefore, when I was attending the class, she would be able to play outside with my wife. My wife agreed and we did it. However, when we got to the masjid, it was so empty. I did not find another participant. Then I took wudhu and let my baby and wife hanged out at the masjid's open hall. When I went back to them, there was Ms. Indira. Alhamdulillah there was another participant. Then came Ms. Arin. Until it was the time to start, there was only us. Therefore, there were only 4 participants, while the two of us were part of Tilawati. Then it was only 2.

The teacher was Pak Mustaqin. He is one of the best experts in Tilawati Jogja. He is skilled at reciting Qur'an appropriately. Thus he knows if any of the participants makes even a very simple mistake. What made it even threatening was that his way of teaching which is very rigid. Therefore, having him was not a pleasure at all. He spotlighted me a few times as I made mistakes. But there was still something good about it anyway. Whenever one of us makes a mistake, he would tell us any information related to the point being discussed. But still, having him is not a pleasure at all. In the worse case, he got me demotivated. In conclusion, I need to keep getting myself prepared for any unpleasantry. If I can't I'll just skip the class. Wassalaamu'alaikum.
