Handling Non-AKM Class for A Whole Day

Assalaamu'alaikum.

Dear Imam, the wonderful teacher. I believe you have made efforts to be a good teacher at all times. And what you did today was evident.

So, as today was the first day of AKM, and you have a class in the Non-AKM student, so you prepared all the stuff needed. You have posted the material (videos) about Human-Nature Interactions and their impact on the environment, and created the worksheets. No. You did not just wrote it, but instead, you have printed it out as many as the number of AKM students: 10. Therefore you felt very ready for the class. And since you prepared well, the class went well.

The first thing you did was explaining a little bit of the learning goal. Then, you explained how you were supposed to fill out the worksheet. After that, you let students watched the videos. While watching them, you guided them filling it out. You saw that they watched the videos attentively and worked on the worksheet greatly. Once they were finished, you led them move around the school campus to observe if there was any part of it impacted by the human-nature interactions. We were not really shocked that there were more negative impacts than the positive one. There were water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution, and sound pollution. On the contrary, there was only one good thing: gardening. 

You really hoped that after the lesson, students would have an initiative to save the environment in any ways. There is always a way if they want to learn and make a difference. 

After Social Studies, it was Tilawati. You taught only one student. Therefore you could focus on him so that he could catch up with three other boys who are doing the same level. And in the next meeting, they can go for the same page. 

After break time, it was supposed to be Science Thematic where students were scheduled to discuss the organ thing. However, there was a chaos in the preparation and execution of AKM. The chaos was in the power which didn't work and when it went on and then off again for quite a long time. So the first session was a total mess. The connection to Mr. Hudan-the Science Thematic teacher, was that he was the 'technician who needed to find a way how to fix the problem. As a grade 5 homeroom teacher, I was responsible for substituting him. And it was quite a sudden shock for me to know that I should teach Science. And the first thought that came into my mind was that I would ask students to do Math instead of Science. I asked Ms. Ana-the AKM coordinator, to do it and she said OK. Alhamdulillah. Then I copied some part of Math book and handed them out. Alhamdulillah the did it well. After that, they had Library Visit with Ms. Uswah as I needed to have a leave for my personal business.

That's all what I can write about you. You call this one whole day since you literally facilitated their learning from the morning until lunch and Dzuhur time. You did your best and it adds to your quality to face sudden unexpected occasions. Keep it up, Mr. Imam, the wonderful teacher!
