Social Studies Lesson Plan

Topic: The Old Hindu-Buddha Kingdoms of former Indonesia

Goal: Prepare for the mini-drama about a life in the old kingdom-the property/profile picture, and the lines of the dialogue.

Sequence of Activities:
  1. Greeting and opening.
  2. Stating the goal(s) of the meeting.
  3. Preparing a newspaper (along with scissors, glue/tape) or canva.
  4. Watching a video about the Story of "Ken Arok and Ken Dedes".
  5. Watching a video about how to make a crown and a sword or how to design a canvatar.
  6. In groups, assigning who becomes what character.
  7. Making the property/canvatar.
  8. (If there is still some time), practicing the dialogue.
  9. Wrap-up: Stating that creativity, confidence, hard work and responsibility are totally needed in this project.
The Characters:

The Script:
Once upon a time in Singasari region, there was a robber. He was feared by rich nobles, but he was always greeted by the commoners. His name is Ken Arok. Ken Arok does not rob for his own sake, but he distributes it to poor people. Ken Arok was furious with Akuwu Tunggul Ametung, the ruler of Singasari because he takes large taxes from the people, causing them live in poverty. 

One day, Ken Arok was on a street. Then Kebo Ijo passed by bringing a lot of gold in a trolley. 
Ken Arok: Eh isn't that the Akuwu Tunggul Ametungs' bodyguard? He then walked after Kebo Ijo to Tunggul Ametung's Palace.
Kebo Ijo: Pulling the heavy cart to Akuwu Tunggul Ametung's Palace.
Tunggul Ametung: Kebo Ijo, where is the gold? I can't wait to see it. 
Kebo Ijo: For sure, Your Majesty. Look at this. I've got a lot for you. We can do we want to do with this all.
Tunggul Ametung: Exactly. We'll make our army stronger than ever. And, We'll build a totally grand palace. 
Ken Arok: Oh my God. Tunggul Ameting is planning to rebel against king of Kediri. Then he left Tunggul Ametung's house. On the way, he kicked a stone and it stroke an old lady. thakkkk.
Mpu Lohgawe: Ouch. Oh my God. Watch out, Ken Arok. It's hurt on my head. 
Ken Arok: I apologize, Mam. I didn't see you were here.
Mpu Lohgawe: It's OK, young man. I'm OK. But still, you need to manage your anger. Learn to throw away this bad attitude.
Ken Arok: Alright Mam. I will. 
Mpu Lohgawe: Good of you, young Man. BTW, I can foresee what will happen to your life in the future. You will be the future king of Singasari, who is wise and just. 
Ken Arok: What should I do, then Mam?
Mpu Lohgawe: Be a servant for Tunggul Ametung.

Finally Ken Arok decided to follow Mpu Lohgawe's suggestion. He went to the palace and offered Tunggul Ametung his will.
Ken Arok: Your majesty, I'm proposing myself to be one of your servants. I'll do my best. 
Tunggul Ametung: I'm really really glad that you'll work for me. You'll be my wing man. However, there is one condition that I want you to fulfill. 
Ken Arok: I'll do whatever you ask me to do, Your Majesty. What should I do?
Tunggul Ametung: You should steal Mpu Gandring's magical weapon. 
Kebo Ijo: Your Majesty, why didn't you ask me to do that? I'm one of the strongest in my battalion. 
Tunggul Ametung: I asked him because I believe he can do it, Ijo. Just focus on the other things.
Kebo Ijo: yes Your Majesty.

Just after some time...
Ken Arok: Coming inside bringing something. Your Majesty here is the sword.
Tunggul Ametung: You're a true fighter, Ken Arok. I'll make you my personal guard.
Kebo Ijo: Excuse me, Your Majesty. You're going to make him my partner?
Tunggul Ametung: Yes, Ijo. Please escort him and tell him anything he need to do here. 
Kebo Ijo: Yes, Your Majesty. I'll give him a welcome gift. Here it is and please open it.
Ken Arok: Opening the top, and a frog just came out. Then everyone just laughed.

After some time...
From inside the palace, Ken Arok heard a little bit of chaos. He then rushed into Tunggul Ametung's throne and shocked to see what happened. 
Ken Arok: What happened, Your Majesty? Who did this to you? He asked while putting off the rope that covered Tunggul Ametung. 
 
He saw that Tunggul Ametung was injured badly. 

He then heard some strange noise from the back room, and checked out. Then he saw Kebo Ijo was doing something weird.

Ken Arok: Your Majesty, what happened? You're badly injured. Ijo, what did you do? 
Kebo Ijo: Nothing. 
Ken Arok: It's impossible! Show me what you're hiding! You attackhed His Majesty!

Kebo Ijo refused to admit what he did. Ken Arok than attacked him. After the fight, he caught Kebo Ijo and Tunggul Ametung's condition got worse. Right after that, Tunggul Ametung died.

The sad news spread quickly and the whole region was in sorrow. As there was nobody to replace Tunggul Ametung, the people of Singasari appointed Ken Arok to be their leaders. Then, witnessed by Mpu Lohgawe and Tunggul Ametung's family members, he was enthroned.

  9. Find materials for teaching English Matrix class.
  10. Host Science's make-up class.

Completed Work List:
  1. Reminded students of preparing news paper for making the crown for the mini-drama property.
  2. Led testimony and morning meeting.
  3. Carrying out individual literacy 17-How to Find the Theme of A Text.
  4. Hosted a Math additional class for about 30 minutes.
  5. Reminded students of joining zoom at 12.30 for Science's make-up class and prepare what Ms. Amy already told them.
  6. Made a classwork for the individual literacy 17-How to Find the Theme of A Text.
  7. Taught Social Studies where we prepare for our mini drama: watching a video to make the crown, making the crown, watching a video about the story of Ken Arok, handing in the script, reading the script, discussing the grouping, rules, and per-assessment.
  8. Reminded students of joining Tilawati as scheduled. Then rejoining class' zoom meeting again for murajaah at 11.30.
  9. Hosted Science's make-up class.
  10. Taught English matrix class.
Uncompleted Work:
  1. Finding a material for the English matrix class, because I was busy with hosting and the other stuff.
