 Completed Work List:

  1. Carried out individual literacy with the text from Ms. Rusna about main sentence
  2. Led morning meeting
  3. Asked students to check list their attendance and 5-time prayers on the list
  4. Hosted PE where students practiced body fitness with push ups and Mr. Adi was 5 minutes late
  5. Hosted English where students and Ms. Amy continued to play the guessing character game. Students were very engaged in the game
  6. Taught Civic Education in 4 Umar. Some students did not understand what I wrote. I think I need to rethink all the words in the questions I would give them

Reflection:

As a part of Thematic Subject, Civic Education seems to be simple in terms of materials but complicated in terms of  delivery. It is simple in a way that some standards of competence are repeated for several meetings. However, in this pandemic, the number of meetings is reduced. It used to be 70 minutes a meeting, but it now becomes only 30 minutes. Then, teaching the materials covered with a strategy that engages students is another concern. Both of them contributes to its state of being challenging.
In these last 5 weeks of term 1, when I taught Civic Education, I mostly used Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation or Google Slides.

Both platforms fit some loads of information and easy to use. Students are also already familiar with them. I personally think that they're not the core problems.
It has come to my attention that my teaching method and the terms I used might be the problems. Some facts said so. First, for the leading-in I used food name guessing game. There were only a few students who responded to it enthusiastically, i.e. those why are normally already motivated. Then, I asked them to find a certain traditional food and traditional music instrument of a certain province. Each student did a different province. I thought it would take a short time. However, on the contrary, it took longer time. Some students even submitted it late.

From then on I started to think that this method is not appropriate. I need to search for and learn about more methods of teaching to get students more engaged in the learning so as to be able to grasp the materials.
