To-Do List:
- Pack a set of learning kit for Damar
- Find a story to tell in the class about friendship and being honest
- Check out grade sheet made by Ms. Rusna
- Tell Damar what to do next: join google classroom, check out classwork, start doing a work one by one
Completed Work List:
- Taught Tilawati level 2: Alvaro and Shafia, who should join at 8, joined much too late. Therefore, it messed up with the whole schedule, not to mention Dika and Ranum who said they had difficulty joining my meeting. Alvaro, who said he had been with Nail and friends, needed to go back to Shafia's page, and in reality, his recitation was not as expected, i.e. needing crafting
- Helped Darma with accessing google classroom and joining 4 Ali class. Luckily he's got his own gmail acvount. Then we explored Weekly Plan topic to see th way to access it
- Called Abbey to make sure and talk about the personal stuff of conflict that involved Alvaro. Abbey said that Alvaro texted someone in 4 Umar that he frequently says bad words like 'bambang'
- Let Darma intrroduce himself to everyone in the class. He did it in Bahasa Indonesia as he cannot speak English fluently yet. The others were enthusiastic to ask him some questions. Hope it was a good beginning for all of us in the class
- Carried out writing contest for the Indonesia's Independence Day Celebration where grade 4 students should write an essay about 'What I Can Do for Indonesia in the Future'. This theme sounds very abstract for them, therefore I needed to give them examples and detailed explanation. 14 students have submitted, and the other 5 need reminding: Alvaro, Shafia, Nadia and Allea. Actually, Alvaro said that he would want tk finish it in a private session with me after school. However, I thought that he was just making an excuse. When the time was up, he did not even stay on zoom and asked for my help. What I'm glad about this session is that Damar, the new student, would do this activity thought it was just his first day of school
- Finished drafting Civic Education and IPA questions for Theme 1 Progression Check tomorrow. I sent Ms. Rusna the google docs link ready. I also have sent her the answers to the True and False questions as she needes them for making the liveworksheet
- Contacting Dimas, Ara, Kania, Byta for them to join EF Show and Tell Contest and they were very dope. Ms. Vita even has made a WA group for us all
- Discussed Radya's personality with his mother via WA for me to know what I can do to help him learn. She said that Radya is a little weak in his verbal capability. It means that he would find difficulties understanding a task with complicated instructions. When he was not able to understand, he lost his focus. Knowing this, I reflected back on my teaching method. When a single student didn't understand, there must be something wrong with my teaching style. I need to be able to accommodate all types of student. And specifically for him, I will start with giving him an example of the expected finished work. Bismillah.
